Joe Gorman, Controller
Joe has been with Sun Design for nearly four years and oversees all financial transactions for the company. In addition, he assists in overall management through his involvement on the management team and as a member of the board of advisors. He has more than 20 years of experience in finance and administration in varying fields such as telecom, manufacturing and construction. "I enjoy the lighthearted and fun environment that Sun Design provides while still being able to get the job done."
When not pushing paper Joe enjoys pushing weights and has recently started running 5K races.
Nick Bonadies, Director of Sales and Design
Nick joined Sun Design in October of 2009. His job is to oversee, coach, motivate and manage the sales and design departments. Nick is a top-performing sales executive with more than 15 years of experience and comes to Sun Design after 10 years as director of sales and general manager at NVS Kitchen and Bath. Before NVS, he was director of sales at Home Star Remodeling where he was named the company’s top seller within three months of employment and he stayed at the top position throughout his four years there. Nick is also a former U.S. Marine.
“I really enjoy working for Sun Design because of the culture – it’s awesome! I also love the fact that the company is very customer oriented and is always looking forward with their vision,” says Nick.
Nick loves running and is training for his first marathon! He also loves spending time with his wife and three children.
Sandy Harris, Director of Administration
Sandy joined the Sun Design team 14 months ago. As the Director of Administration, she plans, directs and coordinates administrative services, including human resources, company benefits, departmental processes and general office support. In addition, she serves as a member of the management group and the board of advisors where she participates in the development of organizational strategic plans, contributing expertise and information within the area of administration, as well as coordination of intra-departmental objectives and initiatives.
Prior to working at Sun Design, Sandy accumulated 20 years of administrative experience while serving as director of operations for the Federal Research Service and as general manager for Quicksilver Restaurants. "I love working at Sun Design because of our team-spirited and customer-focused environment," says Sandy.
Beth Walters, Director of Communications
Beth joined Sun Design in January 2011. As the Director of Communications she analyzes our market and proposes and implements strategies through market research, advertising and sales promotion programs. This involves designing, implementing, and facilitating annual marketing plans for the firm, translating business objectives and strategies to develop brand portfolio objectives, developing strategies to facilitate business growth, and developing all promotional and marketing materials.
She brings to Sun Design and its clients nearly a decade of experience in land development, community associations management, new home construction, remodeling, interior design and marketing. Before joining Sun Design, Beth was Marketing and Designs Manager for a leading new home builder in Virginia Beach, VA. Prior to that, she was the Community Associations Manager for KETTLER in McLean, VA. She has earned certifications from a number of urban planning, real estate and development organizations.
“I’ve always had a passion for architecture and then developed a craze for generating buzz. When my husband and I decided to move back to our home town I interviewed at a couple places, but when I met with Sun Design, it was love at first site. The atmosphere in the office is electric… very addicting to one that likes high energy.”
Beth is married, has two little ones, and an English bulldog at home to keep her on her toes 24-7.
Sara Farris, Director of First Impressions
Sara holds a position that few companies have -- but one that all Sun Design clients appreciate - Director of First Impressions. Sara joined Sun Design in 2006 and is the first person that every prospective client speaks to. She is an intricate part of the process to understand what prospective clients' needs and desires are and in turn educates them on what it is that Sun Design does and how Sun Design operates. Sara aides the Director of Sales and Design to keep track of where every project is in the overall process and, in the end, provides further service to our clients by handling all warranty calls to ensure a proper resolution.
Sara learned many of her client skills at Disney World in Orlando, FL, where she worked in the complex's college program and at restaurants, learning how Disney makes its visitors feel like honored guests. She also worked as a sales associate and visual aide at a department store chain. Sara earned a Bachelor's Degree in marketing from George Mason University.
"The best thing about my job is taking that first call, getting to know the clients and then actually seeing the finished project in the end," says Sara. "I like working at Sun Design because of the culture and family atmosphere. Everyone is caring and our clients are great to work with."
Sara is married and has an "amazing little girl." Her interests include going to the beach, visiting amusement parks and doing outdoor activities including fishing and gardening.
Brian Walker, Special Projects Manager
Brian has been with Sun Design for 15 years and is one of the company’s longest standing employees. He is a Certified Lead Carpenter and has 29 years of experience in the construction industry. Brian’s main focus is to provide clients with the same positive experience during the warranty period as they had during design and construction.
“I like working for Sun Design because they treat you like family. The events they have for employees and their families are great. Plus, I really like the work that I do,” says Brian. Brian loves riding his motorcycle and going on cruises and beach vacations with his family.
Heather Lapsley, Administrative Assistant
Heather has been with Sun Design for three years. In addition to all of her administrative responsibilities she also assists the production department by placing and tracking all orders. According to Heather, "The cool part about my job is that I get to help out in all departments. I have been in customer service for ten years, from retail to administration. The people and the atmosphere at Sun Design is the best. We love to have fun while we’re working."
Heather was recently elected by her peers to be on the company’s internal innovator task force. Her hobbies include reading, watching movies, and traveling with friends.
