Universal Home Design

Sun Design Team

Universal Home Design is the concept that involves designing a home to be comfortable and convenient for individuals at different stages in their life. Universal Design gives you the opportunity to create living environments that are unique, innovative and aesthetically pleasing to accommodate life changes.

As we age, we must identify that there will be life changes that we, personally, or a family member will have to address. Some of these needs include additional in-home therapy and exercise, handicap requirements, physically limiting illnesses or main-level living. By adjusting your home and shifting your living conditions in the direction that your future may take you, Sun Design will work with you to create unique solutions and creative structural changes that will allow you to stay in your home, remain comfortable and keep the warming ambiance that you have delicately created over the years.

We value the importance of creating a “home for life” which is why our team at Sun Design also has a Certified Aging in Place Specialist, Mindy Mitchell, who prides herself in assisting you to live in your home in comfort and safety.

Mindy was awarded the Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) certification by the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB). According to NAHB, “aging in place” means remaining in one’s home safely, independently and comfortably, regardless of the age, income or ability level of the individual. It enables people to live in a familiar environment late into life and “the reassurance of being able to call a house a ‘home’ for a lifetime.” The CAPS certification recognizes the technical, business management and customer service skills essential for home modifications for the aging in place.

We work with you for your future needs and anticipations, based on your own personal family requirements, ways to remodel and renovate your home to address these needs that still makes your living space beautiful, comfortable and functional.
