Project Spotlight: Basement in Clifton

Posted on: July 29, 2016

These homeowners wanted a functional space for spending time with their children, entertaining friends, and sharing with house guests.

By creating separate speciality areas using creative design, they gained a gaming area, a lounge area with a web bar for entertaining, a wine cellar, a bedroom + bathroom enhancement for guests, a new powder room, and a gym!

Here’s a snapshot of their remodel:

Adding a bar for entertainment purposes, this also helped separate the gaming room from the lounge. Flagstone is used throughout the basement as an accent – here it is used as the bar finish.

Gathering Area

An intimate gathering area was created for hosting guests, complete with a double-sided stone fireplace for warmth and ambiance.

game room

We incorporated the clients love of mahogany throughout the space, and updated the now game room by adding mahogany columns and a coffered ceiling.

wine cellar

The wine cellar includes custom tile work and lighting wired for an IOS app which permits color lighting changes and a phone accessible door lock.

A powder room was added (left) for easy access to the rear pool, and the guest bathroom (right) was updated with marble circles and complimentary tile.

A small gym oasis with a sauna replaced one of the utility rooms, giving the matriarch a private place to retreat for yoga and relaxation.
